Day 1: Introduction to Soft Power
Task 1: InstructionsWatch the interview with Joseph Nye as a class. As you watch, try to gain a clear understanding of what "soft power" means.

Task 2: Instructions The class should divide into small groups of approximately four students. Each student will receive a copy of the first chapter of Nye's book Soft Power.
As a group, students will use a combination of quotes from the text and their own words to come up with a DETAILED definition of soft power that they can unanimously agree upon. When all groups are finished, ask them to share their definitions. Pull the strongest portions from each group and create a class definition of soft power. |
